Touching down in Adelaide this month, the lads fielded some questions so we could get to know them a little better.
Your new album is called Carparks. What's the best carpark you’ve visited?
Henry: Thornlie TAFE carpark.
Dave: Armadale KFC.
What was the biggest lesson from the making of Carparks?
Probably that you don't have to have a complete set-in-stone idea of what you want to record or make. Giving room for trying new things and going places you aren’t super comfortable with.
Old Mervs are on the bill for SA's Handpicked Festival. Who are you looking forward to seeing on the bill?
Guy Sebastian.
What's the one song you’ve written that you would recommend to people unfamiliar with Old Mervs?
'She Said' is one we are stoked with that's a pretty palatable song for anyone to listen to, really.
If a movie was made about Old Mervs, who would play each member?
That weird hobbit thing in Lord of the Rings can play Henry. Then maybe Ryan Gosling for Dave or just someone heaps cool.
The Rolling Stones or The Beatles?
Rolling Stones.
What's your favourite junk food to eat on the road?
In-N-Out.
What Australian band is on the cusp of superstardom?
Darcie Haven is about to go mega, we reckon.

Guilty pleasure album?
Any Hilltop Hoods album, but we aren’t that guilty about it
What album have you listened to the most?
Right now, Kurt Vile's Philadelphia’s Been Good To Me is getting a lot of spins for Dave. Henry's pick is Everything Is A-OK by Violent Soho.
Do you believe in UFOs?
No
What song do you wish you had written?
The one that’s sold the most copies.
Who are your four dream dinner guests?
The four Rolling Stones lads.
What’s your worst/best memory playing Adelaide?
Best was Hindley St Music Hall last year - it was Insane.
What song would you have played at your funeral?
'Jailbreak' by AC/DC
What was the last great book you read?
All the Specky Magee books
Carparks is out now. Listen here. Catch Old Mervs performing at Hindley Street Music Hall on Friday 23 October and at Handpicked Festival at Lake Breeze Wines in Langhorne Creek on Saturday 14 November. Tickets on sale at oldmervs.com.
